Summary of LEONARDO week
This was our first meeting all together, so the hosts were prepared special meeting, where they used different technics to make us know each-other easier. Also they provided the participants with the technical equipment from the school, although many of them were prepared for the workshop and had there own cameras.
As the main topic was camera directing and camera use, of course the students had to deal with the most common problem - the lightening of the scene. Some of the films had shots indoor and outdoor - day and night, which was challenge for the young filmmakers.
Others had to shoot in one of the central train stations in Budapest, which was good chance for all of us to learn about the differences in shooting on a public place in the other countries. One of the teams even managed to make a short documentary/reportage about the Leonardo week in Budapest.

Participating organizations:
Participations from Bulgaria:

Summary of LEONARDO week
Luzanky Leisure Centre - Studio Lavka has great experience at working with sound.
In one of the workshops, prepared from the hosts, the students had to make a short play and to tell story only with sounds, no speaking. That was fun and pleasant exercise, which managed to get closer the participants. All of them - tutors and students had the possibility to use the studio, to try creating and recording their own sounds needed for the films, using different technics. This was really interesting for the students, since in Bulgarian filmmaking education the role of the sound in the movies is one of the least popular and practice topics.

This workshop were during the 11th edition of IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival. All of the participants were accredited for the festival events, including Competition screenings, Open aria screenings, workshop and seminars. The main goal of combining Leonardo week with the festival period was to gave the possibility of the participants to feel the atmosphere of the event, to meet professional filmmakers from different countries and most important the good and successful practice of creating short films to inspire them.
As the topic was editing, the participations had exerciseA, with the aid of which developed the skills to use shot as a peace of the hole story and of course they managed to create their own short films and to practice editing skills.
As overall summary not only of the Leonardo week in Balchik, but of the whole project, we're satisfied, because during the Leonardo project the students managed to create more than 20 short films, to biuld new friendships and professional contacts. This was successfully first step of building connections during the four countries and creating of future film co-production possibilities. As trainers we managed to brush up new teaching methods and get new ideas, know-how and best practices, which will develop in our profession as teachers and as filmmakers too.
Each one of the partners was hospitable, provided all of the needed information, materials or technical equipment.
